When I swing I feel as free as a bird!  You can share this feeling with the residents of your dollhouse too by upcycling a swing set for the backyard.  It’s a snap with bendy straws, some lollipop sticks and a toilet paper roll.  Why don’t you swing for the stars, exercise your imagination and those engineering skills and give this project a try.

The Steps!

Here's everything you’ll need: 4 straws (bendy kind) a couple lollipop sticks, a toilet paper roll, or other round objects for fun looking swings. Also string, a nail, scissors and some glue.

First, bend two of the straws and then cut off the bendy part of the other two.

Next, cut a little slit in each of the bent (whole) straws right on the shorter end.

Now fit the cut straws into the slit you just made in the bent straws.

Now poke a hole about half way down on each inside of “v” shape you made by combining straws. This will hold the lolli-brace ;-)

Cut the lollipop sticks to length so they fit across the v shape and into the holes you just made. This turns you v into a great A.

Now, poke holes in one side of the bend at the tops of your “A”s and connect them with a long lollipop stick -this is the frame!

Lets make the slid. Cut your toilet paper roll in half long ways, one side will be a slide, the other side can be cut into swings.

Grab those pieces of leftover straw and cut a lollipop stick into 3 equal parts for rungs on your ladder

Put this frame together just like we did the A frame- poke holes and fit together, then glue the slide to the straws. Be sure to allow your slide to dry first before sliding.

Use a nail or your pointy nose to make holes in the ends of your seats; we'll tie your swings up here.

Hang a mix of fun swings and set up the slide - ready to play! We would love to see it...don't forget to share a picture of your swing set using #UnlockImagination.
